PALACES - DUTCH QUEEN FAIRYTALE

PALACES - DUTCH QUEEN FAIRYTALE

We got hit up by the metal rocker Steven Lee McLaughlin to make a sick music video for his new band, Palaces. This wasn't the first time we worked with Steven, we previously made a video for his old band, Aura Surreal, using Machine Learning and AI wizardry, check it out here.

Given the super tight budget for this project, we decided to get creative and make something visually captivating using one of our existing fractal loops. Our aim was to create a cool music video/visualiser with a gritty 90's film look and feel. It was like a tribute to the era that inspired us so much.

We brought the fractal loop into Autodesk Flame and started adding effects and looks to sync everything to the music. We started by adjusting the timing to speed up and slow down with the music. Then, we went crazy with different effects like distortions, shaking, flickering, chromatic aberration, vignetting, glows, and color corrections. Even the size and threshold of the film grain is controlled by the music.

Honestly, we had a blast working on this project. It was such a cool challenge to create something amazing with a limited budget. If you're interested in seeing how we transformed the video from before to after, check it out below.
